Shifa International Hospitals Ltd. has earned a rare place in global healthcare by securing dual JCI certification for its Acute Ischemic Stroke and Acute Coronary Syndrome clinical care programs. The Islamabad-based hospital is now the only institution in the world to hold both recognitions at the same time, a development that adds a major milestone to Pakistan’s medical sector.
The Joint Commission International certifications were awarded after a detailed review by surveyors who assessed the complete patient care pathway, from emergency response and diagnosis to treatment, rehabilitation and long-term management. The evaluation reflected the hospital’s ability to meet demanding international standards in two critical life-saving specialties.
According to hospital leadership, the achievement is the outcome of sustained teamwork across doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, quality teams and support staff. Their coordinated effort helped Shifa meet the requirements for dual JCI certification, placing the hospital among a very small group of institutions worldwide with either of the two certifications individually.

The latest success comes shortly after Shifa’s JCI accreditation as an Academic Medical Center, highlighting a continued pattern of progress in clinical standards and institutional quality.
