Bannu University MoU will redesign curriculum and link students with industry so graduates become self-reliant and support local economic stability.

Professor Dr. Jahanzeb, Vice Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology Bannu, urged a curriculum overhaul so that graduates are not dependent on government jobs but can stand on their own feet and contribute to their families and the wider economy. The Bannu University MoU with the Chamber of Commerce aims to create that bridge between academia and industry.

The remarks came during a special steering committee meeting held to mark the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Chamber of Commerce. Attendees included Dean Professor Dr. Sultan Mahmood, Dr. Afzal Shah, Professor Dr. Hidayatullah Khan, Chamber President Malik Khalid Khan, Secretary Ghulam Qibaz Khan Qureshi, Dr. Shazia, President of Industries Abdul Quddus, General Secretary Naeem Hayat, Media Advisor Abdul Salam Baitab, and Pir Noor Muhammad Shah. Shahid Qureshi joined from Karachi and Saeema Mehboob participated online from the Sarhad Chamber in Peshawar.

The vice chancellor said the Bannu University MoU will be used to engage students in research and to promote their work through the business community, a move he said will benefit industry while helping address the university’s financial challenges and expand its resources.

Already, the university has signed agreements with the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce, MTI Bannu, Qureshi Dawakhana, and the Peshawar Industrial Zone, and plans are underway to formalize ties with Khatar Industries. Professor Jahanzeb emphasized that students possess talent but often lack opportunities, and these partnerships are intended to create structured pathways for skills development and employment.

Efforts are being organized into a platform for mutual support as new planning takes place across departments and students are encouraged to pursue research. The steering committee will meet regularly to share ideas and monitor progress. The MoU documents were signed and exchanged by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Jahanzeb, Chamber President Malik Khalid Khan, and Secretary Ghulam Qibaz Khan Qureshi to formalize the collaboration.
