PAC Orders Special Audit of Islamabad Gun and Country Club Amid Serious Financial Irregularities

ISLAMABAD — The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has ordered a special audit of the Islamabad Gun and Country Club after auditors uncovered alarming financial irregularities related to the mishandling of membership fees and unaccounted funds. The move follows revelations that millions of rupees collected from members were never properly deposited into the club’s official accounts.
During a recent PAC session, officials from the Auditor General’s Office informed lawmakers that the club had not been subjected to any financial scrutiny until two years ago. Since then, audit teams have discovered a pattern of misappropriation and incomplete records. “People’s money was taken but never deposited,” senior audit officials stated firmly, pointing to a systemic failure in financial oversight and accountability.
Senator Saleem Mandviwala condemned the misconduct as a “clear fraud” and pressed for swift legal action against those involved. He emphasized the need for the registration of First Information Reports (FIRs), expressing concern over the fact that some of the individuals under suspicion had already obtained legal stay orders to shield themselves from prosecution.
Responding to the situation, PAC members pledged to begin a comprehensive special audit of the club’s finances and operations. They also called for immediate disciplinary and legal measures against anyone found guilty of financial misconduct or abuse of authority. The committee emphasized that recovery of the missing funds would be a top priority, alongside measures to ensure future transparency in the club’s operations.
The Islamabad Gun and Country Club, long considered a prestigious institution, is now under intense scrutiny, as lawmakers and accountability bodies work to address financial mismanagement and restore public trust.
