RDA Demolishes Illegal Shops, Gate in Abad Cooperative Housing Scheme

RDA carried out an operation against illegal constructions and LOP violations in Abad Cooperative Housing Scheme.

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has demolished illegal curbstones, a gate at the Community Centre and shops constructed on green strips in Abad Cooperative Housing Scheme, besides sealing an illegal commercial building under construction on a residential plot.

According to an RDA handout issued on October 06, 2026, the operation was carried out on the directions of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division and Director General RDA Salman Ghani as part of the ongoing drive against illegal constructions, encroachments and illegal housing schemes across Rawalpindi.

The RDA Enforcement Squad conducted the operation against illegal constructions and violations of the approved Layout Plan (LOP) in Abad Cooperative Housing Scheme.

During the operation, curbstones and a gate installed at the Community Centre, which is in the name of RDA, were demolished. Shops constructed on green strips in violation of the approved LOP were also demolished. An illegal commercial building under construction on a residential plot was sealed.

Commissioner Rawalpindi Salman Ghani said violations of the approved Layout Plan, encroachments on green areas and unauthorised commercial activities would not be tolerated. He directed all concerned property owners and developers to strictly comply with approved plans, building regulations and other applicable laws to avoid legal action.

He also directed the concerned officers to take strict action against all encroachments, illegal constructions and unauthorised residential-cum-commercial activities without fear or favour.

The commissioner further directed that a comprehensive survey be conducted regarding applicable fees and charges for approval of illegal buildings, commercialisation, complementary maps and plans of structures. He said necessary action should also be taken for regularisation of illegal residential-cum-commercial buildings wherever permissible under the applicable laws and regulations.

The operation was led by Enforcement In-charge Malik Ghazanfar. Assistant Director Planning Lutaf Ullah, Assistant Director Building Control Ahmad Hassan, Assistant Director MP&TE Hamza Saleem, Scheme Superintendent Muhammad Tariq, Building Surveyor Amir Mehmood and the enforcement squad participated in the operation.
