Mr. Albert Khorev, the Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, visited Niftysphere Institute of Arts & Design in Islamabad on April 24, 2026 to strengthen cultural and educational ties. He was received by Syed Usman Tahir, Honorary Advisor to the Federal Minister of Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, and toured the institute to observe academic programs, creative activities, and skill-based training initiatives.
The visit highlighted a mutual commitment to cultural diplomacy, with discussions focused on promoting art, education, and vocational skill development as bridges between Pakistan and Russia. The Russian Ambassador noted the potential for expanded student exchanges, joint workshops, and collaborative projects that would benefit young artists and designers across both countries.
Niftysphere’s leadership outlined current programs and training modules, and the Russian Ambassador expressed appreciation for the institute’s work in nurturing talent and promoting creative education. Both sides signalled interest in coordinated participation at future cultural events and in establishing sustained links with Russian institutions.
Ms. Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman of the Senate, attended the visit and praised Niftysphere for its contribution to arts and education in Pakistan. Her presence underlined the visit’s importance for Pakistan’s cultural outreach and institutional partnerships.
A notable moment during the visit was a musical performance by sitar player, writer, and musician Wajih Nizami, who presented classical pieces including a Russian melody alongside traditional tunes representing Pakistan’s provinces. The performance was warmly received and symbolised cultural harmony between the two nations.
The engagement concluded on a positive note, with Niftysphere reaffirming its dedication to participate in upcoming Russian cultural events and to deepen bilateral cooperation through art, education, and creative exchange under the continued interest of the Russian Ambassador.
