A solemn oath taking ceremony was held at Sakina College of Nursing in Khanpur to mark International Nursing Day, attended by the college leadership, students, staff, parents and community representatives. The event began with a recitation from the Holy Quran followed by a naat, setting a respectful tone for the proceedings.
Fouzia Mushtaq, Managing Director of Sakina College of Nursing, and Musarrat Rani, the college principal, led the ceremony while special guests Shahida Abbasi and Shakeela participated as guests of honour. Students took a solemn pledge reaffirming their commitment to the nursing profession, compassionate patient care, ethical responsibilities and service to humanity, underlining the purpose of Nursing Day to honour caregivers.
In her remarks, MD Fouzia Mushtaq highlighted that Nursing Day is observed worldwide on the birthday of Florence Nightingale and called attention to the critical role nurses play in the healthcare system. She paid tribute to nurses for their sacrifices, professionalism and round the clock dedication to patient wellbeing.
Principal Musarrat Rani spoke about the noble nature of nursing and urged students to combine professional skills with moral training and a spirit of service so they may become exemplary nurses for their communities. Guest of honour Shahida Abbasi praised nurses as indispensable to patient recovery and as sources of hope and compassion for families.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of shields and certificates to staff and students in recognition of outstanding performance, academic achievements and service. Shahida Abbasi commended the establishment of a quality nursing college in Khanpur and encouraged local parents to support their sons and daughters in pursuing nursing as a respected and rewarding career. She also urged nearby institutions to offer nursing programmes so the youth can access proper training and contribute to the nation.
Participants reiterated their resolve to honour the contributions of those in the nursing profession and to highlight their positive role across society. The event ended with prayers for the progress, peace and success of the country.
