On the sidelines of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq held talks with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş, and congratulated Türkiye on successfully hosting the global parliamentary gathering. He praised Türkiye’s hospitality and the active participation of parliamentarians, noting that such forums advance parliamentary diplomacy, mutual understanding and democratic dialogue.
Both leaders reviewed bilateral relations and regional developments and reaffirmed longstanding fraternal bonds between the two countries. Speaker Sadiq stressed that war and conflict cannot resolve disputes and underscored the need for peaceful resolution through sustained dialogue, highlighting Pakistan’s consistent, constructive role in facilitating negotiations and promoting regional stability. The meeting further affirmed Pakistan Turkey ties as a platform for constructive engagement and tolerance.
Mr Kurtulmuş acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to de-escalation and regional peace, specifically commending the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The Turkish Speaker’s appreciation recognised Pakistan’s timely efforts in averting broader crises and its role in promoting dialogue in the region.
Both Speakers agreed to deepen parliamentary diplomacy through enhanced institutional cooperation, regular exchange of delegations and closer parliamentary engagement. Speaker Sadiq expressed gratitude for the Turkish leadership’s appreciation and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue contributing positively to regional and global peace, reinforcing the enduring nature of Pakistan Turkey ties.
