SAMARKAND, Uzbekistan: Senator Agha Shahzaib Durrani of Pakistan chaired a high-level session of the IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians 2026 in the historic city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The international gathering brought together young parliamentarians and parliamentary delegations from more than 75 countries, providing a global platform for dialogue on issues facing younger generations and the role of young legislators in shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future.
Presiding over the proceedings, Senator Durrani led discussions among parliamentarians from different regions of the world. The session underlined the importance of stronger youth representation in political decision-making and enhanced international parliamentary cooperation.
The conference also provided an opportunity for young legislators to exchange views, strengthen parliamentary networks and develop common approaches to emerging global challenges.
Senator Durrani’s role as chair of the session reflected Pakistan’s active engagement within the Inter-Parliamentary Union and its contribution to international parliamentary diplomacy and youth leadership.
The gathering concluded with renewed emphasis on converting the voice of the world’s younger generation into meaningful political participation, policy and action.
