Germany and the EU launch a joint programme to boost SME exports in Pakistan, supporting 600 firms with greener productivity and improved access to green finance.

The German Ambassador in Islamabad launched a joint action by the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) and the European Union titled Better Governance and Business Environment at the EU Business Forum, signalling renewed support for SME exports from Pakistan.

The programme will support 600 exporting SMEs across five high potential sectors including textiles and apparel, sports goods, rice, leather and surgical instruments, aiming to help small and medium enterprises increase competitiveness in international markets.

Key priorities of the initiative include enhancing greener, cleaner productivity, strengthening SMEs access to green finance and connecting businesses with practical solutions for sustainable growth. By tackling both environmental and financial barriers, the joint action seeks to make SME exports more resilient and market ready.

Building on strong results achieved in Pakistan’s textile sector, officials said the partnership will advance a more responsible and sustainable future for the country’s exporters, with targeted support designed to unlock new opportunities for Pakistani manufacturers and contribute to broader economic development.
